Dr. Susan Wheelan has made me a believer in the benefits of strong teams. Her book “Creating Effective Teams: A Guide for Members and Leaders” is a great manual for those beginning new teams or are in need of salvaging or reviving old teams. Dr. Wheelan was best known for research on the dynamics of work teams. She created the Group Development Questionnaire (GDQ), identifying five phases of team development. The methodology has been used to increase productivity and collaboration here and abroad.
